What is the Developement done on the filament from 3D4MAKERS.COM?

The 3D4MAKERS selfmade extrusion machinery has a unique way of producing filaments. During the production of the filament it does not come into contact with water. After production the filament is immediately packaged in a vacuum bag. This results in a moisture-free product.

ASA – Natural (750 gram)

Acrylonitrile-Styrene-Acrylate (ASA) polymers are amorphous and have mechanical properties similar to those of ABS plastics. However, the ASA properties are far less affected by outdoor weathering. The outstanding weather resistance abilities of ASA is due to the acrylic ester elastomer. ASA parts have good chemical and heat resistance, and high impact strength, even at low temperatures. Typical ASA applications are buiding/construction, automotive and recreation parts.

The 3D4MAKERS ASA Filament contains unique properties because the material has an extremely constant diameter and roundness. On top of that the ASA filament does not come into contact with water during the production process and is directly packaged in a vacuum packaging. These properties make the 3D4MAKERS ASA Filament particularly suitable for FDM and FFF 3D printers. The material has an excellent adhesion between layers which results in great improvement of the impact resistance, strength, durability and the printing process.

Hemp – Natural (750 gram)

Polylactic Acid (PLA) with 10% Hemp Fibers (from the bark of the cannabis plant) Old meets new; The Hemp fiber one of the oldest and strongest natural fiber. PLA is a recently developed biodegradable plastic derived from renewable organic resources (corn starch or sugarcane). PLA is recyclable but can also be biological decomposed in composting plants. Bringing (compounding) these two materials together creates a strong but biodegradable and compostable new material. The Hemp fiber technique is based on the products of Hemplyne.

The 3D4MAKERS PLA Hemp Filament has unique properties because it does not come into contact with water during the production process and is directly packaged in a vacuum packaging. These properties make the 3D4MAKERS PLA Hemp Filament particularly suitable for usage in FDM and FFF 3D printers. The material has an excellent adhesion between layers which results in great improvement of the impact resistance, strength, durability and the printing process.

For the best results we advise users of the 3D4MAKERS PLA Hemp Filament to use a different printing nozzle than the standard nozzle usually provided with 3D printers. A nozzle with a diameter of at least 0.5mm will give the best printing results.

The PLA Hemp Filament produced by 3D4MAKERS does not meet  any European regulations concerning plastic materials and articles coming into contact with food.

PCL FILAMENT COLLECTION

PCL 99 – Natural (750 gram)

Polycaprolactone (PCL) is a high quality biodegradable plastic derived from petrochemical feedstock which is compostable under home composting conditions. PCL is a polyester that is semi-crystalline leading to a clean white final appearance, the product can be coloured easily. The density of PCL is around 1.2kg/cm3 and it has exceptional mechanical properties. PCL melts around 60°C which makes it a safe thermoplastic to print. And with a glass transition temperature of -60°C the product is extremely flexible and tough.

The unique properties of the 3D4MAKERS PCL Filament make it particularly suitable for usage in FDM and FFF 3D printers. The material has an excellent adhesion between layers which results in great improvement of the impact resistance, strength, durability and the printing process. Due to the low melting point of PCL it can be re-shaped after 3D printing with water of 55 °C.

The PCL Filament produced by 3D4MAKERS is in compliance with the European regulations EC No. 1935/2004 and EC No. 10/2011 concerning plastic materials and articles coming into contact with food. The colorants used by 3D4MAKERS to colour the Filament also meet these European regulations.

Recommended restrictions

Do not use in medical applications involving permanent implantation in the human body. The PCL Filament produced by 3D4MAKERS meets the European RoHS and REACH guidelines.

Polycaprolactone 100 (PCL) is 100% pure polycaprolactone homopolymer with a molecular weight of 50000, made of high quality biodegradable plastic derived from petrochemical feedstock. It is compostable under home composting conditions. PCL is a semi-crystalline polyester that is which leads to a clean white final appearance. The product is easily colored. PCL has a density of around 1.2kg/cm3 and has exceptional mechanical properties. It melts at around 60°C making it a safe thermoplastic to print. It has a glass transition temperature of -60°C making the product extremely flexible and tough.

HIGH TEMPERATURE FILAMENT – (300°C – 400°C)

PEEK – Natural (750 gram)

Polyether Ether Ketone (PEEK)  PEEK polymers are obtained by step-growth polymerization. PEEK is a semicrystalline thermoplastic with excellent mechanical and chemical resistance properties that are retained to high temperatures. PEEK is regarded as one of the highest performing engineering thermoplastics in the world. PEEK is used to fabricate items used in demanding applications in aerospace, automotive, oil and gas and medical industries.

These properties make the 3D4MAKERS PEEK Filament particularly suitable for usage in FDM and FFF 3D printers. The PEEK Filament produced by 3D4MAKERS meets the European regulations EC No. 1935/2004, EC No. 2023/2006 and EC No. 10/2011 concerning plastic materials and articles coming into contact with food and is also compliant with the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) for food contact. The colorants used by 3D4MAKERS to colour the Filament also meet these European regulations.

PEI – Natural (750 gram)

Polyether Imide (PEI) Ultem is an amorphous, amber to transparent thermoplastics with a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 217 °C and performs in continuous use up to 170 °C. This inherently flame retardant plastic has UL94 VO and 5VA ratings. 3D4MAKERS has selected Ultem 1010 for their filament.

These properties make the 3D4MAKERS PEI Filament particularly suitable for usage in FDM and FFF 3D printers. PPSU – Natural (750 gram)

Polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) is an amorphous high performance thermoplastic offering better impact resistance and chemical resistance than PEI. PPSU can operate in temperatures up to 180Cᵒ. PPSU has superior hydrolysis resistance when compared to other amorphous thermoplastics as measured by steam autoclaving cycles, it has virtually unlimited steam sterilizability. It also resists common acids and bases over a broad temperature range. Applications are; Aerospace, Aircraft, Automotive, Dental, Medical, Surgical instruments. The PPSU filament is based on the technology of Solvay.

The PPSU Filament produced by 3D4MAKERS meets the  ISO10993 for medical applications and meets the European regulations EC No. 1935/2004, EC No. 2023/2006 and EC No. 10/2011 concerning plastic materials and articles coming into contact with food and is also compliant with the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) for food contact. The colorants used by 3D4MAKERS to colour the Filament also meet these European regulations.

LOW TEMPERATURE FILAMENT – (100°C – 300°C)

Poly L Lactic Acid (PLLA) is a processable semi-crystalline thermoplastic made by fermentation from renewable carbohydrate feedstock. PLLA is quite stable under everyday conditions, although it does degrade slowly in humid environments at temperatures above its glass transition temperature, which is 55°C. Therefore, composting is usually carried out in professional facilities over a number of weeks. Its chemical resistance is somewhat limited although it is said to have good resistance to solvents in general. PLLA is a stiff polymer of high crystallinity (60-70%), whose mechanical properties are similar to those of polystyrene. PLLA is mostly used in food packaging, but it is also used for a range of medical applications which are in the research phase. The Molecular weight is 60000 – 80000, the Viscosity is 300000 CP and the Melting Point is 150 – 180°C.

PETG Filament (Polyethylene Terepthalate Glycol-modified) is the common thermoplastics of the polyester family and is used in fibers for clothing, bottles for liquids and foods. PETG is a modified PETPETG is a clear amorphous thermoplastics with a lower melting point than PET.
